Amid several high-profile investment announcements and key projects starting on site in Liverpool, the city’s private sector-led delegation will return to international property conference, MIPIM, in Cannes next week.
More partners and associates than ever have joined the Liverpool delegation in 2017, with 10 new partners on board, including headline sponsor The Signature Group.
Kier, one-half of the development team recently announced on the £200 million Pall Mall scheme in Liverpool, joins the delegation. The transformation of Pall Mall as part of the city’s Commercial District was one of a number of major development announcements made in recent months, joining Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool), Festival Park and Ten Streets in the city’s property headlines.
Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “These are exciting times for Liverpool. There is currently £1.33 billion worth of projects on site in the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods. This, coupled with major developments completed in the last five years comes to a total of £5.44 billion. Peel’s Liverpool Waters has a value of £5 billion alone, whilst KQ Liverpool has a value of £2 billion.
“These are impressive figures and schemes and we are very proud that they are currently on site in the city. We look forward to hearing more exciting announcements at MIPIM next week and to continuing to tell Liverpool’s story and encouraging further investment into the city and wider City Region.”
Liverpool City Council will be working in collaboration with Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council and the Liverpool Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) on a number of events this year. They will also be teaming up with private sector partners to support their planned announcements throughout the week.
Highlights from the Liverpool delegation’s diary include an International Waterfront Summit, sponsored by GVA, which will bring 10 cities together to discuss waterfront regeneration. On the Tuesday morning, Wirral MBC will host its ‘Wirral Well Made – Well Connected’ event. A Downing Street Forum ‘Investing in Cities: Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester’, will take place on Wednesday, featuring Chief Executive of Liverpool City Council, Ged Fitzgerald and on the Thursday, Colin Sinclair, CEO of KQ Liverpool will join the panel for a Northern Powerhouse Business Brunch.
There will also be a series of talks and announcements from delegates throughout the week, which will take place on the stand and in various venues in Cannes.
Sean Beech, Liverpool MIPIM steering group chairman, said: “2017 is shaping up to be a very interesting year at MIPIM. The Liverpool City Region has some fantastic projects on site now and we believe there are others in the pipeline, so we are hopeful that announcements will take place about these next week.
“We have a great story to tell and we look forward to developing it further at MIPIM and bringing more good news for the City Region home from Cannes.”
