Welcome to KQ Interns, an exciting new paid internship programme from Knowledge Quarter Liverpool, designed for students aged 16 and over in the Liverpool City Region.
KQ Interns offers you the chance to gain hands-on work experience, develop essential skills, and connect with leading businesses and industry experts at the heart of Liverpool’s world-class innovation district.
How to Get Involved
All our programmes are free of charge for schools across the Liverpool City Region. They’re funded by KQ Liverpool to help students explore careers, grow their confidence and connect with the world of work.

Successful applicants will join the three-week paid internship, working with leading businesses and organisations in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter.

KQ Futures has given me an insight into the opportunities near me in the LCR. I have gained exposure to a variety of businesses across many sectors, and learned about how they operate and the different roles within the business.

KQ Interns 2026
Here are the key details about our KQ Interns programme:
Activities: Interns develop employability and workplace skills, practice interviews and applications, work on an independent research project set by a business, and present their findings at the end of the programme.
Application: Applicants complete a form and submit a creative personal application (video, document, email, presentation, or TikTok) explaining their interest and what they hope to gain from the programme.

Career Insights
Our large-scale event for Year 7–9 students, introducing them to real employers through hands-on activities that build skills and spark ambition.

Site visits for Year 10–13 students, giving them behind-the-scenes access to local innovation hubs and real insights into future career paths.
Animates
The Animates is a children’s book which aims to introduce the concept of innovation in Liverpool City Region to local primary school age students.
