The School of Biosciences at the University of Liverpool is exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration with local industry partners around student placements.
Despite the strong industrial presence in our city, placement opportunities for biosciences students remain limited. We see this as a shared opportunity to create meaningful connections that benefit both our students and the wider regional economy.
Our four-year integrated master’s programme includes an integrated Year in Industry pathway (in the year 4 of study), providing a valuable bridge between academic training and professional experience. Our students have secured placements with organisations such as GSK, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer, contributing to a wide range of projects, from laboratory-based R&D to computational work in bioinformatics, as well as roles in quality assurance, process optimisation, and more.
Students in the programme bring strong capabilities in: Quantitative analysis and modelling Coding and data science Independent and collaborative research This session will provide an overview of the programme structure and student skillset, and open a discussion on how local industry can engage with us to co-develop impactful, mutually beneficial placement opportunities.
