Summer of Fundraising awaits KQ Liverpool team

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool building is host to the city’s TALLEST abseil!

Members of our team are looking forward to a summer of fundraising for local charities to help mark the 10th Anniversary of KQ Liverpool.

Two of our braver souls, innovation centre lead host Leah Dryhurst and digital marketing executive Martin Jones, will be undertaking Liverpool’s TALLEST abseil, down Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool, on Sunday 7 June. The nerve-jangling challenge will see the pair step off the roof and rappel 150 ft to descend the 11-storey building.

On the same day, strategic projects and people manager Trish Wallace will take on the iconic Wirral Coastal Walk. Beginning at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion, the 20km route will take her past landmarks including Fort Perch Rock, Leasowe Castle and West Kirby Marine Lake, before crossing the finish line at Thurstaston beach.

Rachel Newman, inclusive innovation officer at KQ Liverpool, is also undertaking an individual fundraising challenge, by running the Aintree 5K on Sunday 12 July. Rachel is not a regular runner, so has been training hard to take on the world-famous course with the help of the NHS Couch to 5K programme.

The summer of fundraising will conclude in early September when our CEO, Colin Sinclair, will run from the Lake District to Liverpool. The 100+ mile route, equivalent to three consecutive ultramarathons, will pave the way for Stage 2 of next year's Tour de France. Colin’s monumental journey, on foot, will start as the riders will in Keswick, finishing in the KQ Liverpool innovation district at the iconic Spine building.

This year’s chosen charities are The Brain Charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and Alfie’s Squad, which all support children, young people, and their families across Liverpool City Region and beyond. Every penny raised through our team’s fundraising efforts is being split equally between these three local charities.
